"Hello! And thank you for checking out my profile! My name is Dennis Alley, I have taught Greek and Latin at the university level since 2012, but recently decided to leave the university to help students in a more direct manner. Over the years, I've worked with hundreds of students in class, and dozens online.
I find patience, enthusiasm, and versatility the most useful tools in helping students master the ancient languages. I offer lessons at all levels from beginner to expert, and I am intimately familiar with AP curricula.
On a professional level, I received my PhD in Classical Languages and Literatures from Cornell University. I have authored multiple papers on Ancient Greek and Latin literature in various journals. I’m delighted to help students learn to read and compose in the ancient languages, as well improve their execution of English. I am also happy to offer instruction in Ancient History, English composition, and College advising.
Having offered several writing seminars and ESL courses, I have learned many of the areas in which native and non-native speakers struggle to execute English with clarity and concision. My lessons are tailored to my students’ needs. Please let me know what your interests and needs are and I would be delighted to offer a free initial consultation meeting. Finally, I’m happy to meet in person or offer online instruction!
So if you're looking to study Latin or Greek for enrichment for many years to come, or simply looking to tighten your grasp on material in preparation for a coming exam, I'm delighted to offer you any and all the help I can." less...
