"Although I took a few years away from teaching (my school was closed, and no job openings in my little town), I never stopped teaching! I've been a trainer for adults, in both my own business, and as a manager for others. I volunteered working with ESL students, and did "brain training" with elementary students! I was even a 1-1 para teacher for several years! Now I teach grade 3 (with 2 previous years in 4th grade) and I couldn't be happier! To watch my student's scores consistently go up has been such a thrill! (My class even had the highest rating out of the four 3rd grade classrooms...by several points!) I'm currently on summer break, and all I can do is miss my students. I look forward to working with individual students in a tutoring position!
I am experienced working with grades K - 5.
If I could do nothing else, I would read. Reading helps promote grammar, literacy...the world! My greatest accomplishment this past year was watching a cute little girl move from below grade 1 reading (her Dibels test had a result of less than 20 words in 1 minute) to upper grade 2 ready to move to 3 (with almost 60 words per minute!) Watching the shocked look on her face when she was reading something out loud (during silent reading!) and having her class applaud was something I will NEVER forget! All of a sudden she could read! I use everything possible to help the student succeed, from learning sight words, to using any possible services available to show a successful reader!
I am willing to do whatever is necessary to help my students succeed. I have always gone farther to help students celebrate every success: and I see my students succeed." less...
