"I tutored logic for 3 semesters at my undergraduate university. Specifically, I tutored other undergraduate students in Symbolic Logic which includes propositional logic and predicate logic (qualification theory). The skills worked on in these courses include tree-tables, short method of validity and soundness, translations, proofs of varying difficulty, and theorems. Additionally, I have advanced my own logic education to include metalogic and modal logic.
In my time as a private tutor, I have also worked with individuals on their reading and writing skills with of varying skills, knowledge, and grade levels. I have experience working with students in elementary school, middle school, high school, and post-secondary school. My approach to tutoring is to first grasp what an individuals’ current understanding and level is in a given subject, then develop a plan depending on the length of tutoring, followed by demonstrations of what has been learned. All tutoring and instruction is tailored to each student’s needs and learning styles.
My own academic journey includes a BA in English, a BA in Philosophy, and most recently an MA in Philosophy from Columbia University in 2021. I scored very high in verbal reasoning and in the top percentage in analytical writing sections of the GRE. My academic career has accumulated to a decade in post-secondary education. In graduate school I engaged in workshops dedicated to different pedagogical approaches. I have a flexible approach to the philosophy of education; there is no one correct way to learn, and as a tutor I adapt to student's needs. I adapt my tutoring style to each person's learning style to meet the learning objectives." less...
