"Hello! My name is Salim and I am a recent graduate of Texas A&M University. I graduated magna cum laude (GPA:3.87) with my Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2021 and quite recently got my Master's degree in 2023 (GPA: 3.33).
I have always had joy in teaching others whether classmates or underclassmen. I realized that through teaching others you learn a lot about the topic you are teaching yourself as you uncover further nuance and context. I have been a TA (Teaching Assitant) at my university during my Bachelor's and Master's degrees for three classes in different years. (MTH (Math) 223 Calculus 3 in my Junior Year,ME (Mechanical Engineering) 351 Heat Transfer in my Senior Year, and finally MEEN (Mechanical Engineering) 621 Solar Engineering in the last year of my Master's degree). MTH 223 was my largest class as it contained about 50 students aged 17-20 while the two other courses had classes of about 25 students.
One of my responsibilities as a TA to prepare lessons and presentations that the professor would request such as a presentation I had to do for Solar engineering in which I had to present to students how to operate software that can build solar systems. Another one of my responsibilities was to grade any homework or tests that are taken by students, and provide an 2-3 hours of my time every week set exclusively to answer student questions or queries (Done online through Zoom). To summarize I have experience teaching professionally in university for 17-25 year olds in a classroom setting and online one on one.
I am confident I can translate that experience with high school students and even younger ones. I prefer to have my teaching lessons online as I can reach many students however I am open to teaching in person if we can come to a reasonable arrangement and within distance. Thank you for taking the time to read this and hope to see you in my class." less...
