"Hello! Greetings! Theater and Acting are challenging efforts to engage in. I understand because I have engaged in them myself. I have learned that my body and my mind work together to propel me onto stage and engage me in acting and every day existence. My passion is Stage Combat in the theater.

"Hello! Greetings! Theater and Acting are challenging efforts to engage in. I understand because I have engaged in them myself. I have learned that my body and my mind work together to propel me onto stage and engage me in acting and every day existence. My passion is Stage Combat in the theater.
have spent the last 20 years exploring this theatrical martial art. I have found that when I improve myself, when I am mindful of myself, I can bring a stronger more confident proficiency to my art form. Acting onstage is about physical movement. The story of the body in space. I have developed a system of physical warm ups to help anyone engage physically and energetically to a task of awareness. Freeing up the body/mind allows the performance artist greater creative range and flexibility. This applies to the integrated systems of Stage Combat and Acting.
Through mindful warm-ups and contact improvisation to explore the physical awareness, I will evolve into the Stage Combat moment. This is not about violence or condoning violence. It is about the ability to perform a story that appears violent but also has an imbedded system of safety within the application of choreographed movements. This is NOT martial arts, this is performance movement.
I have a BFA in Acting from Cornish College of the Arts, as well as an MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts from Goddard College concerning Stage Combat and Core Movement. I have 20 years' professional experience as an actor, Fight Choreographer and Stage Combat Teacher. I am also and Advanced Actor/Combatant with the Society of American Fight Directors. I have Taught at the UW, Cornish, Freehold, Shoreline Comm College, Auburn and Roosevelt High Schools.
I assign some basic homework, but nothing that would overwhelm my students. I want them to have fun and perhaps get a little out of their head for our time.
I would not bill the student or family if the fit for us isn't right. If it does work then we would need to set several sessions as this information cannot be covere" less...
