"The Teacher: With 25+ years of teaching experience, I have taught and/or tutored students from preschool to college. I currently teach high school Spanish and ESOL, working with ESOL students in an Algebra class. I am certified in GA in several areas: P-12 Spanish, ESOL, middle grades math and middle grades reading. I have taught Spanish and remedial math, English and reading at the college level. I have also taught ESOL and Spanish for elementary students and education classes at the college level.

My youngest child has dyslexia, so I can really sympathize with parents struggling to find someone who can help their child succeed in school. To better help my child and others like her, I am reading books about dyslexia and experimenting with different teaching methods.

I also scored 770 out of 800 on the math portion of the SAT. I do not encourage rote memorization, but rather understanding and application of concepts. I believe that anyone who can count has the foundation for learning math.

I have taught reading, but was never trained regarding learning disabilities. Because of my daughter's dyslexia I am doing research in this area.

So I understand where the English-speaker learning Spanish is coming from. I am familiar with the Spanish spoken in Mexico, Spain, Central America and Puerto Rico. I have taken groups of students to study Spanish in Cos" less...
