"Hi, I’m Stewart. I have always had an affinity with math. When I was in elementary school I started taking additional math classes, which were at an accelerated level. Through these classes my passion for math began to blossom. As I went into middle school I did some independent work over that summer and was able to take Algebra 1 in seventh grade. From there I took Geometry Honors, Algebra II/Trig Honors, Calculus AB AP, Calculus BC AP, and Multivariable Calculus. I am one of only four math students to reach the level of Multivariable Calculus in my graduating class. As I started preparing for the SAT I developed my own studying method which raised my score several hundred points. Neither section proved difficult, especially not the math section, which put me in the top 99th percentile of SAT takers. While writing my college essay, and other scholarly works I gained a lot of attention for the creativity and the ability of the pieces to captivate the reader. My college essay was on the production of cheese and how it serves as a metaphor for God, society, individualism, and myself. I chose this topic because when I was young I wanted to be a cheese maker. My professors loved my work, one even saying that my essay on the novel "Island Of Doctor Moreau" by H. G. Wells was one of the best essays he had read in a decade.
During my last two years in high school I started tutoring students at my school. I tutored both math and writing. Very quickly I found I have an affinity with tutoring as well. I was able to show students who were struggling to even get a C, how to understand difficult concepts through visual means, by breaking down each problem step by step, and explaining the processes behind each step. I really enjoyed my experience tutoring in high school, and the students I tutored greatly benefited from my tutoring. That is why I continue to tutor now." less...
