"Getting into a competitive college or graduate program has never been tougher. My background and my passion is in writing. It's how I make my living (as an award-winning screenwriter, with five produced films to my credit) and I love it. I also love helping other people with their writing, whether it be as a script consultant or essay coach or tutoring kids in the verbal sections of the SAT and ACT. It's what I like to do to fill in the lulls in what can be a very up and down entertainment industry career (just ask anyone who's in it!).

A little about me. I spent a lot of my childhood traveling the world with my family, grew up in New York and Connecticut and graduated from Yale with a history degree. Later, I moved to L.A. where I got my MFA in screenwriting at UCLA, and became a working screenwriter. But I've stayed involved in the college admissions process throughout -- as a college admissions coach, a long-time member of Yale's Alumni Schools Committee (interviewing applicants for Yale), and co-creator of a comprehensive video guide through the whole process. I'm patient (as a father of young twins I have to be!), dedicated, and take pride in helping students get the very most out of their writing.

I've won numerous writing awards (including the Samuel Goldwyn Award and the Nicholl Fellowship in screenwriting from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences). I love writing. I also love teaching writing, and helping others to polish and perfect their admissions essays (a very specific craft). I got a perfect verbal score in the SAT (as well as the LSAT), and am confident I can also help you get the most out of the verbal sections of the SAT and ACT, as well as AP tests.
