"My experience as a tutor started in high school, when I signed up to be a teacher's assistant at my high school's Saturday Academy. As a teacher’s assistant, I handled grading, test administration, and small-group mentoring, often teaching entire classes independently while employing the Harkness teaching method my school is known for. I spent two academic years teaching English Literature, Georgian Literature, and Math to middle schoolers.
As I pursued my other interests in college, the leadership roles I have held during my time at NYU further honed my communication skills with my peers. As the President of the Liberal Studies Philosophy Club, I introduced the Harkness teaching techniques at our weekly meetings to cultivate lively discussions, ultimately increasing the club size to 15—17 new, permanent members. Furthermore, as the Editor-in-Chief at BRIO, NYU’s Literary Student Journal, I employed the same horizontal leadership style to mentor a completely new team of editors, and led the journal’s rebrand, ultimately resulting in an increased online engagement by 96%.
As a straight-A student, I understand what it takes to maintain good grades and how to transform a boring subject or task into something engaging. In college, my attention to detail and creativity enabled me to graduate summa cum laude and be inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. With a 4.0 GPA, I earned a spot on the Dean’s List, was named a University Honors Scholar, and received NYU’s Founders' Day Award, as well as the Comparative Literature Honors Senior Thesis Prize. My passion for the subject led me to present my award-winning senior thesis at the American Comparative Literature Association and NYU’s Art-Based Research Conference.
As a 'professional student', I am thrilled to mentor current students on their journey toward a successful and fulfilling academic career. I am very excited to share my learning techniques and provide tailored, subject-specific tutoring to empower students in achieving their goals." less...
