"Hey guys! My name is Jake and I'm an undergraduate student in my final year at UNCW. I've been invested in the fitness industry for several years now, with a background in competitive weightlifting, powerlifting and general fitness. I'm interested in helping people discover a love for the strength sports and reaching their physique or performance goals through coaching and/or consultation.
I'm a NASM Certified Personal Trainer as well as a USAW Sports Performance & Weightlifting coach. Additionally, I work as technique and programming advisor for my university's Barbell club, specializing in adjusting new athletes to strength training. Watching someone develop under the bar, getting stronger and moving better is one of the most amazing things to see and have a hand in as a coach.
I like to think that I've developed a very personal relationship with the lifestyle changes that come with a pursuit of success in the fitness industry. I didn't start my own journey easily; during my teenage years I was morbidly obese and it took me several years to make the necessary changes to end up where I am today. It's a long, arduous endeavor but is one of the most fulfilling and rewarding things I've ever done.
I've worked with people under different circumstances and have come to understand that everyone is different. The approach that has to be taken with each client is different and you cannot simply copy-and-paste a template for success. Understanding the critical differences between clients and what motivates them is something I'm confident in and believe it utterly essential to success.
I'm in my final year of completing my BS in Exercise Physiology. Additionally, I'm in the process of obtaining my Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certificate.
I'm willing and excited to offer guidance, advice, provide resources, answer questions, and/or work in person with you on your fitness goals! Whether you're interested in the strength sports, developing a better physique, improving your health, or" less...
