"Hello! I'm Laura. For the past four years, I have been teaching brass instruments full time at an international school in Malaysia. I'm now back in the United States and ready to connect with students locally again. I began teaching trombone and euphonium when I was in high school, and I have always loved being able to help students develop into fine brass players and well-rounded musicians. Aside from trombone and other brasses, I have also tutored in music theory, aural skills and music history. My goal as a teacher is to provide the best education for aspiring musicians and help them to succeed in their next audition or transition to a new phase in their musical education and career. While I remain focused on music, it is important to note that I am committed to the safeguarding of students and have a genuine concern for their well-being.
In addition to teaching, I am also an active performing trombonist in several genres. While in Malaysia, I substituted with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra and was a regular member of local hip hop and jazz ensembles. I am currently a member of the Low Brass Project Trombone Duo. I hold two master's degrees from the University of Michigan in Trombone Performance and in Chamber Music, and graduated magna cum laude from Baldwin Wallace University with a degree in Trombone Performance. The combination of my career and education have helped me to provide my students both knowledge based on experience and a network of professional musicians with whom they may take up further study or be hired for gigs.
I am delighted to get to know you and your passion! Let's work together to help you develop into the musician you want to be." less...
