"Hello, my name is John, and it would be an honor to become your tutor because you have taken a step toward your educational success. A little about myself, after College, I traveled to Europe and explored places I've only studied about. This was a dream come true and motivated me to eventually go back to school and become a teacher. Students have said I am enthusiastic, engaging, patient, and, above all motivating. My philosophy is that the glass is always half full not half empty. I am overly optimistic. I have been teaching for 18 years in High School Social Studies. I enjoy tutoring because it allows me to work one-on-one and share my knowledge and expertise for your success. When it comes to tutoring, your learning style is particularly important to me. It indicates to me the best way you learn and tailor every lesson to meet your academic needs.
My certification is in grades 9 through 12 Social Studies and over the years have taught every subject in that curriculum. Students I have tutored raised their test scores significantly in U.S. History, AP Human Geography, and Government. My teaching style incorporates skills such as scaffolding, critical thinking, and the Socratic Method. One of my top goals is teaching students how to approach standardized tests. These tests can be stressful, and I will teach you techniques to approach questions answering them correctly.
I have obtained various degrees in education, my undergraduate degree is in History and Political Science, a Master of Arts in Teaching M.A.T. specializing in grades 9-12 Social Studies, and a Master of Education Administration M.Ed. I am currently finishing my Doctorate in Education Ed.D. Curriculum and Instruction and surprisingly this year my school has chosen me as teacher of the year. I look forward to being your tutor." less...
