"I am a certified teacher and literacy specialist. I taught preschool for almost two years, was a kindergarten teaching asssistant for this past school year, and have tutored students ranging from grades one to seven, some significantly below grade level. I prefer to work with students one-on-one so that I can really focus on their individual needs. Every child has the ability to learn and to develop a love of learning. It is my job to figure out how to make that happen.
I offer engaging and fun activities in every subject. I really get to know my students and what they are most interested in. I not only design my lessons based on a student's strengths and needs, but I also keep his or her interests in mind as well. As you know, sometimes math can be a challenge. It is for this reason that I provide hands-on manipulatives to make basic math concepts not only more clear to the student, but also fun. We all know that children learn best when they're having fun.
I am also a mother and I know first-hand how difficult it is to watch your child struggle in school. Every child is unique and capable of doing great things, just not always at the same pace and in the same way as expected in a traditional school setting. I would be happy to develop a positive relationship with you and your child and to give him or her the necessary skills to be successful, life-long learners." less...
