Most recently, I have been teaching gen chem 2 at the community college level. Students have different learning styles, so it is important that I try different teaching styles. Students learn by doing, so I tend to guide students through the problems. Understanding is important, so I explain the concepts rather than have students memorize. I have prepared general chemistry 2 students to be success for organic chemistry by making sure that they had a knowledge of acid base theory, kinetics, Lewis structures and other relevant topics. My students have told me that my general chemistry 2 course helped them to prepare for the MCAT. My community college students have gone on to become successful doctors, dentists, pharmacists, nurses and dental assistants. Some of my students have become chemical engineers.
