"My career as an educator began in 2022 where I served as a substitute teacher, a club leader, and later went full time as a SPED paraprofessional, all at an elementary level. As an educator, I want my students to find joy and wonder in the subjects they are studying. I became an educator because I love the pursuit of knowledge and I want to fill students with the joy that this pursuit has given me. When I'm working with children, I find myself to be enthusiastic, patient, and energetic. I connect well with kids, and I notice that they seek me out. I care deeply about the students I work with, listening to their opinions, validating what they have to say, and demonstrating that I care about them as people. Over the years, I've learned how to balance my caring approach with enough discipline to stay in control and to set safe boundaries around my students.
I've worked in the community as a private instructor over the past year. I am flexible, constantly changing methods and approaches to try to appeal directly to the students I work with. I've designed my own course materials, pulling from a wide range of books and websites, and setting whatever assignments I think will help the individual student understand the material the best.
