"I'm Emmanuel! I graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in Government/Political Science and a minor in Data Science at the College of William & Mary. I have tutored elementary, middle, and high schoolers throughout my academic career. My mother, a special education teacher, inspires me to educate with kindness and patience.

I first take the time to meet my students and understand their learning styles to ensure my lesson plans match my students’ needs. I ask to overview my student’s notes, homework, and class material beforehand so I can prepare extra practice problems to work on during our session. Once I know what we will be working on together, I have my students work on a problem on their own so I can see where they are having difficulty. From there, I explain any errors in their work, go over the problem step by step, and then guide my students through other practice problems. I make sure to foster a judgment-free zone to encourage my students to ask questions and clear up misunderstandings as they arise. When my students demonstrate they understand the problems better, I give them similar practice problems to complete independently and ask them to show me how they got to their answers to ensure they’ve mastered the targeted concept.

I care that my students have the time to strengthen their learning during our sessions. I am more than happy to spend 15 minutes overtime without pay to ensure my students can excel in the subject they are learning. I believe students excel the most in their academics when they can develop those skills in a positive, supportive, and thorough environment, which I strive to build when tutoring.
