"Hi, I'm Salma! I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2020 with a B.A. in English. The scope of my undergraduate studies was primarily centered around the sub-disciplines of academic writing and analysis, Russian literature, technical writing, and creative writing. I also have expertise in essay formatting and citation styles, editing, and academic research.

As a student, I served as the Formatting Editor then Editor-in-Chief of Re:Search, the University’s official undergraduate journal of literary criticism. I have also previously worked as a private English tutor for foreign exchange college students and students in grades K-12. I have since pursued a career in finance and have worked for two Fortune 500 companies on their institutional fundraising teams. As a professional, I am experienced in writing RFP and DDQ responses as well as creating educational materials that are distributed externally to accredited investors.

When it comes to tutoring, my teaching style and intensity is tailored to suit each student’s personal goals while taking into account their reading comprehension and writing abilities. I make a concerted effort to foster an environment that welcomes individual creativity and curiosity, as it is important that my students feel comfortable with asking questions, working through challenging concepts, and sharing honest feedback.
