"Hi! My name is Brian, I graduated from Tufts University (Little Ivy, Top 50 Schools in US). I graduated Cum Laude (with honors) with a Bachelors of Science in Cognitive and Brain Sciences and Computer Science. My studies were well-rounded, containing core classes in Computer Science, Biopsychology, Psychology, Philosophy, Human Development, and Neurobiology. In addition, I took core science classes including Biology, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry and Physics.
My tutoring and mentorship experience is extensive. I started tutoring K-12th grade education in 10th grade where I realized my love for education and helping youth succeed after helping a student with low interest in school and untapped potential raise his grades from a C- average to an A. I continued my tutoring journey at Tufts where I primarily tutored Biology, Computer Science, and Spanish. I received a formal tutoring education at Tufts where I learned the VARK model of learning, and applied it to a wide variety of student populations ranging from first generation to private school students, in 1-on-1 sessions. Moreover, I have done research centered on positive childhood experiences, worked for Thrive Scholars, and have worked in camp counselor positions.
My broad range of experiences working in child education and studying childhood development have prepared me to center students, create a safe and productive working space, and inspire a love for learning.
My teaching style focuses on centering the student, allowing them to create and realize their educational goals. I enable students to succeed by coaching students on time management, emotional regulation, and focus skills to create self-sufficient learners. I teach students how to use the resources available to them effectively such as ChatGPT, YouTube, and textbooks, giving them the ability to solve any problem, or at least lead the problem solving process (figuring out what they need to know to solve a problem).
After two years your student won’t need any tutoring!" less...
