"I am a recent graduate from Binghamton University (2015), with a specialization in Mathematical Sciences and a minor in French Literature and Linguistics.
I have tutored on and off from high school through my senior year of college, and have always enjoyed teaching students because I find it extremely gratifying to see the 'aha!' moments appear on their faces. From my sophomore year until my senior year of high school, I volunteered tutoring students in 6th-8th grade in algebra, science, and French.
During one semester of my senior year of college, I worked as a Teaching Assistant to a French 2 class. I attended all of the classes (held twice a week), taking thorough and comprehensive notes available for the students to review if they so needed. I graded all of the students' quizzes, and offered time to review any mistakes they might have liked to go over. I held weekly office hours, helping the college students understand any topics they were having a particularly hard time grasping.
I also held some independent tutoring sessions, upon request. Throughout my entire senior year of college, I volunteered as a Math and French tutor at Binghamton High School two hours a week. In both subjects (ranging from Algebra to Precalculus for the mathematics lessons), I helped students in grades 9-12 with their homework, helped them study for quizzes/exams, and occasionally helped those who were preparing for their PSAT's and SAT's.
Though unrelated to math or French, I also volunteered as an instructor of technology to the elderly one hour a week during my senior year of college. This still holds relevance, as it is a testament to my ability to teach people of all ages. I just enjoy working with people, and find great satisfaction in being able to impart knowledge on others, helping them learn and understand something they didn't before. I truly enjoyed working with the pupils in all of my tutoring experiences, and am looking to instill in them the same passion I have for problem solving to the best of my abi" less...
