"I hold BA in Mathematics and Economics Summa Cum Laude from the American University In Bulgaria and with Disciplinary Honors in both majors. I also hold MA in Economics/Econometrics from CERGE-EI and MS in Quantitative Finance from Boston College, which correspond to 5 calendar years I spent across two fully funded PhD programs in Economics/Econometrics and Finance. All my graduate-level coursework is at the Doctoral level.
At Boston College, I was also a TA in Fundamentals of Finance for two semesters in a class of 100-150 undergraduate students. I worked with students both in class and one-on-one.
My teaching style depends on individual student needs and background. If you are new to the topic and have little to no background in the area, my style is to break down the concepts to their most basic elements and explain how these elements interact to give the full picture. If you have solid background in the area, my style is to guide you to an understanding rather than directly provide answers to your questions. This way, you will not only get help with the topics you find challenging, but also learn how to recognize what you understand about a problem and what you do not, and how to navigate complexity and vagueness to arrive at answers yourself. This approach is far more effective in terms of understanding and retention than passively hearing explanations.
I expect you to let me know in advance with as much detail as possible what you will need help with. This makes lessons much more productive and learning - cheaper (because you take more out of meetings per dollar paid)." less...
