"My approach to tutoring is simple: determine the student's goals, assess their current knowledge, create a personalized plan, and check in regularly to make sure the work we are doing is helping to achieve those goals.
I have always been passionate about math and science, and it's my goal to share that passion with others in service of their academic success. I earned a BA in Mathematics from UC Berkeley and studied education at Cal State Long Beach. After working as a teacher's aide and witnessing first hand the limitations of public schooling, I decided that I could make more of a difference in people's lives through private tutoring.
Over the past decade I have worked with many students at different levels of education including High School level Algebra, Geometry, Pre-calculus, Trigonometry, Calculus, Statistics, Physics, and Chemistry as well as College level Algebra, Calculus, Statistics, Probability, Numerical Analysis, and Number Theory. I draw from my collection of textbooks as well as online resources to supplement my students' learning beyond the materials that they provide. I am familiar with most common scientific and graphing calculators as well as MatLab.
I value communication, and I find that tutoring is most effective when the student, tutor and parent(s) are all on the same page with regards to goals and progress. To that end, I am always open to input from the student or parent(s) and I will answer all emails, phone calls, and texts within one business day. Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. I look forward to hearing from you!" less...
