"Hi, I am Ziad! I have a PhD in Chemistry from UC Berkeley and got my Bachelor's degree from University of Richmond in Virginia. Ever since I have been learning Chemistry, I remember tutoring it forward to my peers. I was a peer-to-peer tutor for Chemistry in high school (GCSE), eventually getting promoted to the Head Tutor based on student reviews, after which I started leading review sessions as well. At Richmond, one of the first (and longest) jobs I held was at the Academic Skills Center, where I tutored almost every class I took (including Physics, Math, and Bio). And when I finally found myself in California at UC Berkeley, I "graduated" from being a tutor to an instructor, and taught 4 semesters of General Chemistry (lab and discussion sections) to pre-med, pre-health, and chemistry majors. My students even nominated me for the prestigious "Outstanding Graduate Student Instructor Award", which I won and it motivated me to continue teaching past my graduate studies!
I believe that learning can be a fun experience- almost every class I enjoyed was because of an engaging professor. I bring a positive attitude, a desire to teach, and ways to get you engaged into learning what you need to succeed (and some witty/cringy dad jokes and puns). My biggest satisfaction is when students not only understand the concepts enough to do well on a test, but can internalize the concepts on a fundamental level- which not only makes learning intuitive, but fun and effortless as well!
I work for you and your interests. So please feel free to pass any resources or suggestions that will help me help you better! I am easy to reach and will provide responses as soon as I can, and feel free to contact me with any additional questions or to schedule a lesson.
See you soon!" less...
