"Hi, I'm Kaitlyn! I graduated from UCLA with a BA in Psychology, and I will be starting medical school in the fall. I had a GPA of 3.75 and was on the Dean's Honors List. I have a Nature publication, and this application cycle, I received over 10 interviews from schools. Having personally experienced the medical school application cycle (for both MD and DO), I understand the daunting prospect of writing essays.
I like to start by hearing your most meaningful experiences and try to connect these to your "why" for pursuing medicine. If there are multiple topics, I will ask you to write a short version of each one before deciding on a narrative. While I always check structure and grammar, I aim to help you tell a story that highlights your best traits. I focus on making sure your individuality is shown at all times. Because I am a planner, I also provide you with a timeline for each essay draft.
Aside from having written over 50 essays for my own applications, I also have tutoring experience with elementary and high school students. I helped third graders with their English homework and helped them practice reading outside of school. As a part of the National Honor Society, I worked with high school students on college admissions essays. I am also available to tutor for the ACT English section because of my grammar expertise and personal score of 35 on the ACT English section. I can also tutor chemistry and biology given my success as a pre-med student.
Working with various age groups of students, as well as students with different interests, has taught me how to be a patient, understanding, and adaptable tutor. Above all else, my goal is to provide the insight that I wish I had to guide me during uncertain times of applying to college and medical school.
Lastly, please send me a 24 hour notice for cancellations. If you need help with anything else regarding other parts of the applications, college admission prep, or general essays, please do not hesitate to contact me or schedule a lesson!" less...
