"Hi! My name is Katie. I hold a master's in education from USC, where I graduated with highest honors specializing in special and exceptional education. I have a JD from UCLA and a BA in English from USC, magna cum laude. I am a member of the California State Bar. For high school, I went to prep school in New England. I guess you can say I am nuts for learning and education, and I hope I can instill the same passion and skills in my clients. I have also helped students with disabilities navigate the educational system and receive the appropriate accommodations (that JD does come in handy). I have successfully tutored and advocated for students with special needs at every schooling level -- from pre-school to graduate school. In addition, to problems with education, I have worked with busy C-Level executives on executive function coaching and ADD/ADHD support as an area of expertise for many years.
I have tutored high school and elementary students for many years with great success. I tutored in English, writing, social studies and history. I have helped students go from failing grades to As and Bs through learning and appreciating books and the subject matter. My methodology is to get a student to have fun while learning and begin to hone a passion for the humanities. My job is to make learning both exciting and productive. I have taught test prep -- from SAT/ACT to LSAT for nine years. I have been both a volunteer and paid tutor. I have tutored the underserved immigrant populations in the skills to become a United States citizen and low-income high school students on getting into the college of their choice including, but not limited to, test prep, high school classwork, resume revision and counseling.
I am also an avid reader and writer, and I can help any student become a better writer for any subject. My lesson plans are informative and exciting, and I tailor them to individual student's needs. I have a passion for proofing, and I believe that everyone has a bookworm inside them. I excel at helping peop" less...
