My goal, as a tutor, is to get the student to think on her/his own, without requiring constant, direct supervision. I strive to cultivate a deeper understanding of a subject area, not only as a body of knowledge but as a way of thinking. The student should ultimately feel confident to amass the factual and procedural knowledge taught in sessions and readily engage higher-order critical thinking when tackling relevant tasks.
