"I graduated from the University of Miami with honors in English Literature. I have five years of experience tutoring English, History, and the SAT (both English and Math). I have worked with over 70 students, ranging from grades 6-12. I also have edited and proofread essays for college and graduate level students.
For the SAT, I tutor every section: Reading, Writing, Math, and Essay. I have a firm understanding of the redesigned SAT format. My philosophy is to work on improving foundational skills, test-taking strategies, and time management. I have also created proprietary resources and worksheets that will help students target their strengths and weaknesses. Every student I have worked with has seen a significant improvement in their test scores.
At the University of Miami, I wrote over 30 college-level essays, finishing with a 3.9 GPA in my English major. In my final year, I wrote an optional 25-page senior thesis in which I analyzed the processes of literary interpretation in William Blake's poem "America a Prophecy." For my work, I was recognized as the honoree for UM's "Outstanding Student in Literary Studies Award."
Some specific areas I have helped students with include:
• drafting and writing essays & research papers
• preparing for the SAT Reading, Writing, Math, and Essay Sections
• college application essays & personal statements
• editing and proofreading graduate-level dissertations
• developing sentence patterns and rhetorical strategies to improve writing skills
• learning the fundamentals of grammar
• improving reading comprehension
• improving vocabulary
• writing speeches and practicing for presentations
• completing literature assignments
• preparing for the GRE Verbal
• teacher certification exams (i.e. FTCE GKT)
I am very passionate about literature, writing, and language. I enjoy sharing the benefits of these subjects with my students and helping them realize how fundamental they are to everyday success." less...
