"Hi, I’m Kalina!

I am a graduating Biochemistry and Science, Technology, and Society Double Major at Vassar College with a background in K-12 Math/ELA tutoring and Undergraduate Tutoring in STEM. I have around 5 years of tutoring experience, love working with students of all ages, and typically see a boost in at least a letter grade in those I work with for test prep!! At Vassar, I work as a Quantitative Peer Tutor, specializing in general/organic chemistry and biology at all levels. I am also a Teaching Assistant and do laboratory research in our Chemistry Department!

At the college level, I have experience working with students in General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, General and Upper Level Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysical Chemistry, Pre-Calculus, Introductory/AP level Physics, Pre-Calculus, and Argumentative/Creative Writing. I am happy to tutor college, high school, AP, or IB students in any of these areas!

At the K-12 Level, I have worked with students in English Language Arts, Elementary Math, and Algebra. I have volunteered in educational roles with K-12 students for around 4 years, and had an especially rewarding time with a volunteer remote tutoring program I started in my community during the pandemic!

I typically tutor using class and homework materials and will provide supplemental instruction based on what students are learning in the classroom. For students self-studying for summer courses or standardized testing, I work through study materials and provide step by step break-down of problem areas. I am always excited to meet new students and will always do my best to adapt to different learning styles. I am especially happy to help students build new study skills and habits playing to their strengths and help students continue to grow and learn far beyond our time together!
