"Hello! My name is Shruti and I am currently a sophomore at Cornell University, originally from Lexington, MA. I have a breadth of teaching experiences that span multiple disciplines, including SAT mathematics, essay editing, and public speaking.

SAT Math: I personally received an 800 on my SAT in the mathematics section. Over the past two years, I have successfully tutored over 25 high school students in SAT Math, all of whom saw score improvements of at least 150 points. My approach focuses on efficiency, teaching students time-saving strategies, pattern recognition techniques, and problem-solving shortcuts that maximize accuracy under time constraints. I emphasize practice problems, as the SAT is a repetitive exam, and have a bank of questions I have written myself, unique from preexisting materials.

Essay Editing: With a strong background in writing, I have helped 15+ students refine their essays for college applications, coursework, and competitions. My own Common App essay was published in the New York Times, demonstrating my ability to craft compelling narratives. At Cornell, I regularly edit my peers’ essays, providing detailed feedback on structure, clarity, and argument development. My approach is tailored to each student’s voice and goals, ensuring their writing is persuasive, cohesive, and impactful.

Public Speaking: I founded a nonprofit, SpeakUP!, several years ago dedicated to teaching public speaking, where I worked with non-English-speaking middle school and high school students to build confidence in their communication skills. SpeakUP! reached over 300 students globally and I built a team of 50 teachers. I was awarded the Boston Business Journal 25 Under 25 Award for the impact of the organization.
