"Hello! My name is Brianna and I am pursuing a Bachelor's degree in biology at Eastern Michigan University. While I have no current experience tutoring in academia, I have been in roles where I teach people in volunteer settings and training for employment for the last 7 years. I believe that a learning environment should be stimulating and fun while still getting to the point of the material.

I have contributed to enhancing and supplementing training resources used at my job to reach people of all learning styles by creating guidebooks with thought-provoking questions that follow along with audio training modules, adding opportunities to "shadow" other people for a hands-on experience, and making reference sheets to use after training is finished. It is very rewarding to see someone feel comfortable in their role and excel at their job from having a supportive training experience.

In my volunteer opportunities, work with a variety of people from elementary school age to adults interested in learning about collecting samples to assess water quality data for our local watershed council. The strategy I like to use with my group is the "I do, we do, you do" method where I explain and demonstrate how to collect and identify a sample, then guide my group members to the resources we have to ask questions and identify their own samples, and ultimately watch them masterfully collect and identify on their own.

As an academic tutor I would bring my planning, organizational, and mentoring skills along with my passion and dedication to help you.

In regards to my cancellation policy, I do politely request that if a lesson is scheduled please inform me at least 1 hour prior to the appointment start time if you are unable to make it so I can adjust accordingly.
