"Hello curious student/parent. My name is Kat G. and I reside in Portland, OR. I am a 2017 Engineering graduate from the University of Texas at Arlington with a minor in Mathematics and Aerospace Engineering. Math is one of the subjects I truly enjoyed in university and it is why I applied as a university undergrad to tutor in 2015. I have been tutoring ever since, and I have experience working with students of all levels and ages - from K-12, university students, to those who decide to return to university for their continuing education. My tutoring style is quite dynamic as I adapt to my students' learning style and help them in a way that they respond best to. My teaching style is very relaxed as I come into a session with a very friendly and open approach. My goal is to help the student so they can help themselves going forward, and I make them think about their queries and help them fully understand it before moving onto the next. I believe patience and a judgement-free attitude can make a world of difference and I have seen the results from it in all of my sessions. I always ask my students for verbal feedback during and at the end of our sessions to ensure their questions are being answered in a way that makes sense to them. I use positive reinforcement as well to boost my students' confidence because I truly believe that a disconnect in understanding (due to multiple factors and reasons) is what creates dislike in a subject.
