"Hi! I'm Amy. I recently graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience and a minor in Chemistry. I am passionate about equipping students with the skills they need in their journey to reaching their full academic potential. For most of us, that journey begins with the college admissions process. With that in mind, excelling on standardized exams such as the ACT is the key to opening doors to a world of opportunity in the search for acceptance to a dream college. As someone who has been through the process myself, I want to share the tips and tricks I've learned along the way with students prepping to take those exams in a way that tailors to their individual strengths, weaknesses, and test-taking abilities. I will share scientifically proven testing strategies that I have used to help me to score a 35 on ACT math and a 36 on the ACT reading section. I will also provide support for those prepping for the PSAT in which I received the National Merit Commended Scholar for scoring in the top 3% of testers.
Previously, I have been involved in a nonprofit teaching organization, Stemnova, where I have taught middle school and high school students about STEM using project-based learning. Through this experience, I have learned how to effectively lesson plan, communicate, and engage students in a manner that is creative yet easily understandable. My guidance will consist of working through practice exams and exercises from both official and third party resources in order to understand the logic of these standardized exams for both math and reading portions. I will work hard to support students as much as possible and find innovate ways to tailor my services to each and every student. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like to schedule a lesson!" less...
