"Hello, I’m Vishal, a native San Franciscan and undergraduate Junior studying Political Science, Economics, and Chinese at the University of Pennsylvania! I tutor in these subjects as well as for the SAT and a variety of AP exams including US/Comparative Government, US History, Micro/Macroeconomics, English Language/Literature, and Chinese Language & Culture.
At UPenn, I have mostly completed both my majors in Political Science and Economics as well as my minor in Chinese, taking course including American Political Thought, International Political Economy, Intermediate Microeconomics, and Business Chinese. Regarding Chinese fluency, I attended a Chinese-immersion elementary school and continued to study Mandarin afterwards, having only ever gone four years without instruction.
I tutored peers throughout high school and college, amounting to several years of teaching experience in the aforementioned fields. Having recently done well on the SAT (1540) and AP exams (5 or 4 on the listed exams), I am very familiar with methods of preparation, exam formats, and the numerous roadblocks students face along the way, as I myself faced them too, and not all that long ago.
I provide individualized tutoring sessions for comprehensive SAT/AP exam preparation and other lessons on specific material, assisting with argumentative and analytical writing, Chinese language skills (both interpersonal and formal), visualizing and connecting economic concepts, and understanding structures and trends in government and politics. Regarding my approach, I identify areas of particular difficulty, providing strategies, tips, and step-by-step walk-throughs to overcome them. I typically start out with big-picture ideas then dive deeper into the details, always leaving time for students to ask questions and practice on their own.
