"Throughout my education and career, the one thing that I have truly learned about myself is my passion for teaching, training, and mentoring the next generation. After graduating from the United States Military, I served five years in the Army as an infantry officer. My experiences leading soldiers informed my passions and led me back toward education, and now I am studying at the University of Rhode Island to receive a Masters of Education and Teaching Certificate for German and Spanish, and will be pursuing this passion in a career in teaching.
I have always been passionate about learning languages. It started with taking Latin in middle school, then adding Spanish in the 8th grade. In college, I branched out and started taking German classes, and once again was enamored. I decided to major in languages and received a BS in German and Spanish Language. I also had the opportunity to study for a semester in Munich, Germany, fully immersed in a German university.
Second only to languages is my passion for history and the social sciences. This passion stemmed from my time in the military. I wanted to understand the world and to understand the purposes behind policy decisions and ultimately the war that I was going into. I believe that studying history thoroughly you can learn to apply your analysis to the world around you and become a more informed and better citizen of the world, and I love engaging with history and helping others and myself come to better understand it." less...
