"Hi! I am a current fourth-year medical student who loves learning and sharing that knowledge with students. I have over 8 years and 2200 hours of tutoring experience. For transparency, my academic credentials include passing step 1, honoring six out of seven clerkships, scoring 265+ on USMLE step 2 CK (>90th percentile), and 519 on the MCAT (97th percentile).

Areas of specialization:

• USMLE Step 1 & 2

• Third-year clinical shelf exams

• Organic chemistry

Teaching Experience:

• Internal Medicine Clerkship Teaching Assistant

• Tutoring Step 2 & Clinical Shelf Exams as an M4

• MCAT biology and organic chemistry instructor at The Princeton Review

• Private organic chemistry tutoring (Self-developed educational tutoring website)

• Teaching assistant for organic chemistry & biochemistry (UC Davis)

• Lead tutor at Academic Assistance and Tutoring Center (UC Davis)

I particularly enjoy tutoring step 1, step 2, and clinical shelf exams. Since taking step 2, I have tutored 15 students over 250 hours in addition to review sessions given as an internal medicine teaching assistant.

Tutoring approach:

I have found the most success with going through NBME questions and using them as a framework to teach related high-yield concepts. For example, a question about renal cell carcinoma can be a segway into discussing paraneoplastic syndromes including the paraneoplastic syndromes of small cell squamous cell lung cancer. On this same question, we may discuss that renal cell carcinoma is an example of carcinomas that spread hematogenously rather than carcinoma's typical lymphatic spread (along with HCC, choriocarcinoma, follicular thyroid cancer, and sarcomas). Students appreciate this approach as it targets many questions and scenarios instead of one question.

I prepare for each session and make learning as active as possible to maximize our time together. If you are not 100% satisfied with our tutoring session, I will not hesitate to issue a full refund. I am looking forward to hearing from you!" less...
