"I am a Anesthesiology resident at UT San Antonio. I graduated from Arizona State University Undergrad and Creighton University Medical School. I have a passion for teaching and have been tutoring since sophomore year of undergrad. My tutoring journey began with Organic Chemistry, where I helped classmates and friends grasp complex concepts and integrate information effectively. During undergrad, I also tutored for the MCAT. I initially struggled myself at the beginning of my MCAT journey; however, after doing my own research and dedicating a lot of time into studying, I found what worked for me and has worked for almost all of the students that I have tutored.
Throughout medical school, I have continued to tutor a variety of subjects, adapting my approach to meet the unique needs of each student. My preferred method involves using practice questions to guide learning. By working through these questions together, I help students understand how to approach and analyze problems. Getting into the mind of the test writer is the most important tool to scoring well. This approach is particularly effective for preparing for large medical licensing exams such as the MCAT, STEP 1, STEP 2, and STEP 3. I believe that learning through trial and error with practice questions enhances retention and understanding, as the "shock-factor" of encountering incorrect answers can significantly reinforce the correct information.
What originally inspired me to tutor was discovering what worked best for my own learning over the years. As Albert Einstein famously said, "If you can't explain it to a six-year-old, you don't understand it yourself." This principle has guided my teaching philosophy. By breaking down complex concepts into simple, understandable terms and adjusting my language and tone, I ensure that my students truly grasp the material.
In terms of my own academic achievements, I MCAT (515. 92nd percentile), STEP 1 (first-pass), STEP 2 (262)." less...
