"Hello! Ny name is Elise, and I am passionate about educating the future generation of changemakers!
I graduated from Vassar College with a degree in Environmental Studies, and went on to obtain my MS degree from Bard in Environmental policy.
In between Vassar and Bard I worked in a variety of educational settings. I have been a substitute teacher, tutor of various subjects, and an associate teacher for first graders. I also have spent time working at an urban educational farm and a natural history-themed day camp. I have worked with a wide range of ages, from toddlers to teenagers.
My specialty and passion lies in environmental studies, though I am happy to help students with other subjects such as ecology and earth science, as well a subjects such as math and reading comprehension (depending on their age/level). (I also would be interested in teaching art, specifically textile arts.)
I have always loved learning, and firmly believe in making the learning experience as fun as possible for all students. This means getting to the bottom of what gets each student interested in the topic, analyzing where their skills lie and where they could improve, and adapting to their individual learning style.
My greatest skill is seeing the big picture and identifying patterns. I believe this kind of thinking is foundational to understanding problems and devising solutions to challenges both big and small.
If you think I would be a good fit for your tutoring needs, I would be honored to hear from you!" less...
