"I may be approaching 50 years old but I am super young at heart. I love teaching my students how to read and write but have a lot of fun too. We sing and dance in class and work very hard. "I may be approaching 50 years old but I am super young at heart. I love teaching my students how to read and write but have a lot of fun too. We sing and dance in class and work very hard. Most of my students struggle a great deal with reading and do not like to read. My job and goal is to turn that around. I teach tools and strategies that help my students to jump up in reading levels and comprehension skills. When this happens they all start to love to read.
I have training in teaching Reading through many different approaches. I find the most success with students is when we approach Reading with a multisensory phonetic approach but this does not work with everyone so I do have other strategies up me sleeve. Although, I love to teach reading.... I can teach Math at the elementary level as well. Whatever the subject, teaching is my life's work. I love learning from my students what they can learn from me!!
I have been teaching students with disabilities on the elementary level for 27 years. This is given me a great deal of experience with many programs and approaches in the subject of Math.
As I stated in my bio, I have had a great deal of training with different Reading programs. I am familiar with and have implemented Sondays Reading, Fundations, Wilson Reading, and Edmark. I love all of these programs and enjoy making sure I have the right one or combination to meet the needs of the student that I am helping.
A little bit about me... I have three children and a husband at home. I love to run every day. I also have my own pallet sign making business so I do like to be creative for sure. I love teaching and I am always learning something new that I like to try with my students. I hope to make a difference for every child that I teach." less...
