"Hello students! I am a veteran ESL teacher with nearly a decade of experience working with learners of all ages. I started my career teaching the iBT TOEFL Speaking exam to top tier students in South Korea who were interested in attending English-speaking universities. As is the nature of the iBT TOEFL, we spent much time building communication skills in regards to expressing personal beliefs as well as summarizing complex academic information found in reading and listening passages. Currently, I am back home in Southern California and continue to teach TOEFL test-preparation classes for a storied language institute located in Orange County. In addition, my many years of professional experience include teaching grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation courses focused on helping adult language-learners who have immigrated to the United States. It is always very rewarding to see my students meet and conquer challenges that they face in learning this language.
I graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a Bachelor’s Degree in history. In addition, I possess a CELTA teaching certificate which has allowed me to develop a teaching philosophy based on student-centered learning which occurs when the student is placed at the center of each lesson. In my classes, students are expected to not only take teacher input, but produce language on their own. I hope you allow me to bring this philosophy to your journey towards English mastery." less...
