"Hello!
My name is Jeremy and I am an Australian violist. I have 18 years of performing experience and 6 years of teaching experience. I completed my Bachelor of Music degree at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Griffith university and my Masters of Music at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
During my Masters degree, I was employed in one of the two University Graduate String Quartets, as well as a Teaching Assistant for the University, requiring me to teach the violin and viola to non major students. I was also employed as a Teaching Assistant for a music general education class, M100, requiring me to engage and run class activities. Prior to coming to the United States, I taught violin and viola to students aged 8-20 in Brisbane, Australia.
My violin and viola lessons are tailored towards students of all ages, with lessons based around your current musical and personal needs. I have experience in many practices such as stretching, relaxation, technical work (scales, exercises, etc.), musical games as well as various other learning activities.
During lessons we will focus on always creating a beautiful sound, developing reliable bow and left arm foundations, and working on releasing unnecessary tension in the body to allow you to express yourself freely. I aspire to teach fun and engaging lessons, with consideration on how music fits into your everyday life, and I endeavor to enable you to thrive not only as a musician, but as a human being.
I offer free trial lesson as it is important to find someone who's teaching style, personality, and knowledge match what you are looking for. I have much experience with the colourstrings teaching method as well as the Suzuki method and I include lots of technical and musical building in lessons to allow you to express yourself as freely and effortlessly as possible. I believe that it is very important to establish free, reliable technique right from the beginning.
I look forward to hearing from you and being a part of your musical jour" less...
