"I am currently a first year medical student at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine (UCCOM). I graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Anatomy and Cell Biology and minoring in Social Studies of Medicine. I applied to UCCOM with a 3.83 GPA and an MCAT score of 513. I am happy to share my experience and help anyone who is interested in applying to medical school with their MCAT studying and answer questions about the application process.
I have participated in research for the last three years in two different labs. My research varied from examining new methods of targeting bacteria to understanding how to treat kidney failure.
In terms of teaching experience, I have a year of experience. I was an undergraduate course assistant for two different anatomy courses in Systemic Human Anatomy and Musculoskeletal Anatomy. As a course assistant, I would teach on a weekly basis a group of 10 students the various systems within the human body in an anatomy lab. I would lead lead discussions about these systems while quizzing my students as the lesson went along. To ensure they met their learning goals, I would check with them how their progress is going and address any confusion they had. Additionally, I would write practice exam questions for my students to use.
I also have one-on-one tutoring experience as I have been tutoring in English for the last year on a volunteer basis each week.
Furthermore, I am originally French and moved to the United States when I was a child. French is my native language, and I have a French level of C2. I would be happy to tutor any student in French as well at any level.
Additionally, I swam at a high-level competitively for both clubs and school. I swam 5 days a week from 6 years old until 18 years old. I qualified for districts and specialized in butterfly and freestyle. Also, I hold a lifeguard certification and worked as a lifeguard during the 2020 summer." less...
