"I recently graduated from Swansea University with an MA in War and Society, a Defense Studies degree. This MA was taught as a separate but related degree to International Relations, including classes in politics, philosophy, international business, but also included its own variant classes such as War and Technology and War in Space. This prepared me well to teach people a variety of information regarding modern affairs certainly, but also reflects my inner passion for history and reading which fueled my decision. Needless, perhaps, to say, War and Society is heavily rooted in history (much like a war history degree) and required large amounts of writing.

My undergraduate degree in Interdisciplinary Humanities from Penn State illustrates a slightly different, if related passion of mine: the study of philosophy. A traditional philosophy degree was too abstract for me, and I struggled in the less concrete philosophy classes, but when it was brought down to earth by combining it with other humanities classes I began to ace my semesters. This is what I would like to do for students: provide them with an anchor for them to rely on when they are struggling with various academic issues, and from which they can expand when they are ready.

My father was the senior lecturer of physics at Penn State Harrisburg and worked for NASA during the space race. He gave me a fascination with physics at a very young age - so much so that my initial major in college was physics, before I realized that the questions posed by philosophy were very similar but more cerebral in some ways, which I found more attractive.

I took two of the three types of Latin AP tests straight out of high-school and continued my Latin education in college; it has always been a language that I have been fond of.

Literature is inextricably linked with culture and humanity, and I believe that to be a good human as well as cultural participant, a good knowledge of literature is vital. It helps to grow the mind. I have always sought to read whenever I" less...
