"I have become a tutor because I believe that preparation and repetition can create personal and intellectual growth. After attending BC and grad school at the University of Hawaii, I have had a diverse career in research, print media and fundraising. My time as a teaching assistant at UH gave me the chance to work with students of diverse ages and backgrounds. I loved every minute of teaching! I have performed well on standardized graduate school admissions exams (1450 GRE, 710 GMAT), and can guide a student through their preparation process. I want to show students that they can improve their performance on these tests, and increase their possibilities!
Coaching writers comes naturally to me. Writing has been a big part of my teaching experience and my career, and I especially want to share my skills with adult learners. Your preparation, confidence and development are my foremost priorities. I have an unusually broad range of writing experiences, including grant writing, magazine interviews, persuasive opinion pieces, and a long-form masters degree thesis. I am very patient and believe in organizing ideas well, frequent practice, and substantial drafting and revision.
I am not a natural math scholar. However, I was able to perform well on the GRE math section (750) due to excellent preparation and drilling. Repetition is critical. I will help you prepare not only for the individual skill sets, but also for the complications of timed pressure and the speed needed to work between scrap paper and the testing computer.
I believe that the brilliance is already inside of you, and that skill development gives you the tools to let it out. Patience, enthusiasm and structure will guide the lessons, and you can improve your scores!" less...
