"I am an experienced tutor with a lot of real-world experience. My previous tutoring experience has involved History, Government & Politics, Writing, College Application preparation and public speaking. Right now, I am currently advising high-performing students on their personal statements and extracurricular development for college admissions. I have coached students through successful admissions to Ivy League and Top 50 National and Liberal Arts Colleges.
I have a lot of experience working with students of all ages in a variety of subjects. I've taught ESL to elementary and middle school-aged children in China and Thailand and was a sailing coach for elementary, middle and high school aged children in the US. I've volunteered my time as a tutor in French, Writing and History in high school and a for-pay writing tutor in college.
I truly love learning, so beyond just helping students realize improved grades, I also want to build their confidence, encourage self-study and make the subjects more enjoyable. Beyond my academic achievement in my specialty subjects, I have a range of real-world experiences I bring to bear in my teaching. For example, my work on a range of academic and non-academic topics has appeared work in multiple formats (e.g. academic journals, blogs, etc.), and I have a decade of experience doing corporate presentations at a top Management Consulting firm. I have traveled to over 70 countries in the world often visiting historical sites, so I can make the subject come to life! I also have years of working in government in Washington, DC (e.g. the White House, Capitol Hill) which animates my passion for government & politics.
I graduated summa cum laude with my BS in Foreign Service from Georgetown and magna cum laude with my MA in International Affairs from Johns Hopkins.
Having truly lived the subjects I teach, not only do I want the students to learn to love them, I want to make them approachable and relatable with practical application and experience." less...
