"I have a Bachelor of Science in Physics and English Literature with minors in Spanish and Dance. Throughout college, I tutored at the writing center and took a course on tutoring techniques. I also tutored through the physics department and Academic Skills Center in other subjects like calculus, math, and spanish I work full time as a science writer but wish to continue tutoring part time.

I have also worked as an educator since college teaching all ages and specifically as a substitute teacher, in physics and long term Spanish. I enjoy one on one tutoring and use peer collaboration to develop subject matter and create meaningful connections to the learned content. I approach tutoring as a collaborative experience among peers. Based on my previous experience and study, treating each other as peers instead of assuming an authority position as tutor helps to guide the session in the most appropriate and efficient manner. Using discussion of the subject matter to create meaningful connections to the content, seems to assist with retention as well. With physics and more abstract concepts, I always try to use tangible allegories or examples to create a vivid mental picture of an otherwise very broad concept.

I studied in Granada, Spain and have a minor in Spanish. I also worked as an interpreter and translated formal legal documents. Most recently, I taught high school Spanish as a long term substitute and wrote my own assessments.
