"I received my bachelor's degree with a double major in English and Women's & Gender Studies from University of Toronto, Mississauga, and I graduated with my master's degree in English from Central Connecticut State University. I have been working for over 13 years in academia, and my focus has been on the writing process and how to help learners strengthen and improve their writing skills across all disciplines. I adapt my tutoring approach to each student, and I use visual, oral, and tactile strategies to help students accomplish their session goal(s) and complete assignments.
I have worked in writing centers for over five years, as both a co-director and a tutor/graduate assistant. I have also taught Remedial/Developmental English, English Composition, and Technical Communications II, and I have designed and implemented technical communications courses as credit-free options for non-traditional learners. I tend to work with college-level and adult students, though I have experience working with high school seniors and incoming first year university students during my time as a Bridges Program instructor.
