"I am an Ivy League graduated, certified teacher with over 12 years of experience helping all levels of students improve their writing, discussion, reading and grammar skills across the humanities. I've even trained other teachers and college programs how to best support their learners through the argumentative writing process. It is challenging for most people! My students truly benefit from individual help when brainstorming ideas for a first draft, restructuring sentence, or crafting a personal statement. With one on one support, my students develop both confidence and excellent skills. It's the kind of investment in learning that continues in subsequent years. Once students figure out how to express themselves powerfully, they don't forget!
I also have a Master's Degree in Second Language Acquisition and know how to really break down English language skills for speakers of other languages. I am fluent in Spanish and am happy to hold our tutoring sessions in Spanish, especially since writing essays and papers can be incredibly difficult to do in a second language!
I have also tutored students for several years preparing for ACTs (English, Reading & Writing), SATs (Evidence-Based Reading & Writing), GREs (Verbal Reasoning & Analytical Writing), IELTS, and TOEFL. In my experience, most students are able to significantly improve their score once we identify weak spots, address and practice them." less...
