"Most people think in words. Likewise, we believe that what we think is who we are. It is no wonder, then, that writing can be a difficult and painful skill to learn. When we are criticized for our writing, it is perceived as an attack on who we are, unlike math, history or science, where if you make a mistake you are just getting your facts wrong. In writing, each red mark can be a painful experience. It is very understandable that many students learn to hate writing.
But writing is a cornerstone of effective communication. We want people to understand our ideas. We want people to understand how we feel. We want to be able to convince people that we are the right person for the right job, or that our product or service is the best that money can buy. My role is to help you become easier with the writing process. I taught college-level writing for seven years, and I have extensive experience in helping people with limited writing abilities become proficient writers.
Not only do I have a Master's Degree in Composition, writing is part of my daily activities. I write books, articles, blogs, and humor. My first paid tutoring jobs were in high school. I paid my way through college and grad school tutoring developing writers, both as a Teaching Associate and in the writing lab.
So, if you have difficulty with writing, or if you hate writing but understand how important it is to your future to be able to communicate your ideas, I can help you painlessly develop how you express yourself. I am very flexible in my schedule. Contact me and let's find out how we might work together." less...
