"Hi everyone! My name is Alexandra B., but everyone calls me Ali. I received my Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Notre Dame in 2019. I feel in love with organic chemistry during my first year, which eventually pushed me to pursue my PhD in that field. While I was still at Notre Dame, I tutored other undergraduate students in general and organic chemistry for two years in small group settings.

I then went on to pursue my PhD in chemistry at Yale University, where I specialized in organic synthesis and reaction development. At Yale, I gained significant teaching experience by teaching organic chemistry lab my first year, where I was in charge of preparing a short lesson for a mid-sized group of students (10-12), then leading them through the lab portion of the day. In my second year, I acted as a teaching assistant for organic chemistry 1 and 2. For these courses, mid-sized groups of students would meet with me twice a week and we would go over some of the important points of the lectures. Students had the opportunity to ask questions, and with left over time we would go through problems that I had devised for them. I would hold additional office hours for them before and after exams so they could come to discuss additional topics as needed. Some of these sessions were one-on-one or small groups.
