"Hi, I'm Claire. I'm a freshman at Yale University studying English and Economics. I graduated from high school with an International Baccalaureate Diploma and a 4.94 weighted GPA, placing me in the top 5% of students in my state. I have extensive experience tutoring my peers on a myriad of subjects (SAT, academic/college essay, Calculus, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Precalculus).

Having taken 15 AP and IB exams throughout my high school career, I know what it takes to understand all course content and perform the best you can in the exam room. After receiving tutoring from an upperclassman in my freshman year, I transformed my studying by focusing more effort on figuring out the purpose and process of a question instead of charging straight for the answer like before. This experience led me to want to teach others and provide the same kind of help that I received, and I worked with my school's National Honor Society to offer free tutoring to underclassmen. I loved seeing my students grow academically and bolster their confidence and self-efficacy.

I received a 5 on AP BC Calculus, AP English Literature, AP English Language, AP US History, AP Psychology, and AP Art History, and a 6/7 on IB Analysis and Approaches HL, IB World History HL (European concentration), IB English Literature HL, IB Environmental Systems and Societies SL, IB Economics SL, and IB Spanish SL.

I am also experienced in SAT/PSAT prep, having been a National Merit Finalist with a PSAT score of 1480 and earning a 1590 on the SAT in one sitting. I improved my SAT score by over 100 points by taking numerous timed practice exams and understanding the SAT writers' intentions.

This approach comes from my background as a creative writer. I have attended the prestigious Iowa Young Writers' Studio and Kenyon Young Writers Workshop. I look to use my open-mindedness as a writer to create new solutions for students' individual needs.
