"Excelled throughout high school and college, earned a 3.6 GPA. I am a licensed NYS math teacher for grades 7-12. I received my BA from the University of New Paltz and I am now enrolled in their Masters program, scheduled to finish this spring.
I have taught for the last 2 and a half years in a variety of schools, districts, and age levels. I taught at Poughkeepsie middle school 8th grade, Marlboro high school 10th-12th grade, and most recently at Pine Bush High School grades 9th-12th grade. In pine bush I also did after school programs for tutoring services along with coaching the basketball team since I was a former player. My approach to teaching is to honestly adapt to the needs of my learner. I first try to get to know the individual on some form of level to understand the best approach to teach them. My ability to quickly connect with individuals has helped me form these relationships to enhance the learning process as it is my core belief that it much harder to learn from someone you do not like. I believe it is part of this reason as to how I am able to connect and teach math to students who may not be interested in it at all, but need to succeed to move forward. Although I claim to be an outsider the truth is I have developed a fondness for math over career as a student and do enjoy helping young “math minded” students as well as the students who do not enjoy math. I have worked one on one with students with disabilities successfully and although I am not a certified special education teacher I have been a co-teacher in special education classes and have experience.
I have had student success rate competing with veteran math teachers in regards to state testing and scoring." less...
